A successful leader SETS AN EXAMPLE where through their own behaviour they support and ‘live’ the  VALUES  of the organisation.  The following actions tend to be helpful in achieving this.

1. Actively encourages feedback on own performance
2. Communicates an air of enthusiasm
3. Sets a good example by practicing what they preach
4. Openly admits mistakes
5. Demonstrates their personal willingness for continuous learning
6. Demonstrates an appropriate awareness of the external environment

The above represent a ‘portfolio’ of behaviours exhibited by good leaders.
