A successful leader creates a LIBERATING environment where they ENCOURAGE & SUPPORT LEARNING with their direct reports/colleagues who aren’t then afraid to have a go and become fully involved in activities.  The following actions tend to be helpful in achieving this.

1. Listening to their staff
2. Accepts responsibility for their own and their team’s actions
3. Giving praise when it is due
4. Recognises and acts to minimise other peoples’ stress
5. Encourages other people to ask for help when they need it
6. Regularly meets with individuals to clarify direction
7. Makes people feel important and shows that they have faith in them
8. Demonstrates an understanding of the diverse needs of people in relation to the flexibility of work
